i look back on my life & realize all major mistakes fall at the feet of the jw leadership.
no college, no birthdays, basically no celebrations.
lived my younger years as an outcast.
I’ve been out for more than 20 years now. As I head into my fifties the Watchtower organization has zero influence.
I hold my family firmly responsible for their own actions. They choose to listen to nonsense spewed by idiots. They choose to shun their children/grandchildren. They choose to do the hateful awful things they do. No one is making them do any of it, they choose it, and could choose differently if they wanted to.

DOC - that was me too - I was mad at myself for believing and trying to believe for so long.
I left in my 20’s and was able to recover, go to College, have a career, plan a retirement.
I lost my family in the process, but it made me stronger. I knew early on that I could only depend on myself and I needed to do whatever I had to do to succeed because there was no safety net.
I hate that my family believes this nonsense and continues to let other people control them.
i can’t remember the last time i stayed in on new year’s eve.
every year we went out and made this date a real party.
it was a celebration that included a night out, a stay in a hotel , eating, drinking and dancing to live music!.
Dinner reservations at my favorite restaurant with the hubby. Don’t know how he pulled off the reservations but I’m excited to go.
as a jw teenager in the 60's i took up smoking.
i gave up in my early 20's when my new wife and i decided , mistakenly, that it was a good idea to " make a proper go of da troof".
in all the intervening decades i still enjoyed the smell of a fine cigar.. when i left and became free, i took up smoking again, always fine cigars, and ended up hooked, and smoking ten or more a day.
When I first left I tried smoking cigarettes and didn’t like it. I was young and was a “beer girl” at a golf course and also a “chew girl” for smokeless tobacco. A couple of times a year I indulge in smokeless tobacco.

right now i would like to see how good the vaccine really is.
i’ve never taken a flu shot and so far, no flu..
latest news announcement is that there are two companies that have developed a vaccine for the covid virus which they say they will start being distributing to the public in a matter of weeks.. one comes from a company called moderna (94.5% effective) and the other is from pfizer (90% effective).
if all things go to plan you could see things return to normal once the majority of the general public is vaccinated by easter of next year.. yoo hoo .
It’s a scary time when the government thinks it can tell you what to do in your own home. In public....... sure. In my own home nope, nada, no.
I hope the vaccine works as well in real world applications as it has in the trial.
don't get me wrong, i do love her.
but when she goes into cult mode, i freaken hate her.
i hate the person this pos religion has made her become.
I’m sorry you are going through this. I can’t imagine trying to deal with the cult mindset in an intimate relationship. My family makes me crazy sometimes and I don’t live anywhere near them.
so here i am 44 yr old divorced and free to remarry jw sister....first time single since i was 19. but guess what no single brothers in my area.
i’ve tried those stupid jw dating sites and still no luck.
oh yes there are tons of single brothers, but guess what...they all expect a hot barbie to come running into their life.
The best advice I have is to love yourself and take care of yourself, that sets the standard for how others will treat you. Get involved in your community and build a life. Don’t make other people responsible for your happiness in a relationship or outside of a relationship.
Most of the men I know want their significant other to be active, take care of themselves, and have their own interests. I would not ever consider a relationship with a JW.
i want to be as transparent as possible.
i am a baptist christian, a student at seminary and i need to conduct an interview.
i recently moved cities and the great folks that i used to chat to from my local jehovah's witness congregation are not in contact any longer.
Make sure to ask them about their problems with child sexual abuse and how they cover up the abuse and keep the abusers free to do it again.
for myself i just try to avoid them intentionally maybe see them once every couple of years on average.
they used to be easy going but over the last 10 years or so they got more cult like and distant and i'm really not bothered by that, maybe a bit.
they stick to their own or other members like they are their family so, its makes it unattractive for myself to connect and reach out to them anymore.
@diogenesister - one of my DF’d nephews is like my son now. We talk or text nearly every day and go on vacations with his wife and child. Those young adults that leave need someone in their corner, someone to give them advice, listen and love them no matter what. Someone to make sure there is a roof over their head and food in the fridge.
And they need someone to protect them until they are strong enough to protect themselves. I’ve went head to head with elders who would not leave them alone and my siblings who forged documents to make it appear they owned a vehicle they did not, with a plan to have him arrested for stealing the car. He had paid for the car with his own money. I had no choice but to get involved and put a stop to it. All because they were mad he didn’t want to be a witness. Assholes......
